About Us

Our story began with Lee Trainor's innovative idea to facilitate early post-operative recovery after lower limb surgery. His vision was rooted in the belief that everyone should have access to exercise, regardless of age, ability, or financial situation.

At Trainor Jim, we are passionate about breaking down barriers to exercise and promoting overall well-being. Our commitment to this mission led us to create affordable, portable exercise equipment like the patented SHUFFLER ®. We are dedicated to helping individuals of all backgrounds embrace the benefits of physical activity, and we are proud to collaborate with experts in the field, including Surrey University and the Royal College of Art. As part of the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, our ultimate goal is to make our exercise equipment accessible to NHS patients throughout the UK.

Meet our Founders

"Our mission is to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to embrace the benefits of regular exercise, and we will continue to innovate relentlessly to achieve that goal."

  • Dr. Jim Kelly

James (Jim) Kelly, a Co-Founder and Director of Trainor Jim, is an NHS General Practitioner with 27 years of experience in innovating primary care services. His career has deepened his appreciation for exercise's impact on health, particularly for musculoskeletal conditions. While serving as the Senior partner at Kingsnorth Medical Practice, Jim spearheaded a pioneering care model that enabled remote access to senior clinicians, streamlining patient care for cost-effective outcomes. This innovative clinical mindset is now channelled into Trainor Jim to help more people in their health challenges, resulting in the patented SHUFFLER®.

  • Lee Trainor

Lee Trainor, a Co-Founder and Director of Trainor Jim, brings a wealth of engineering expertise to the mission of empowering the elderly and those with limited mobility. Lee’s true passion lies in helping others, and he works to inspire and encourage people regardless of their abilities. His vision is clear: to enable the elderly and those with limited mobility to lead active, healthy, and engaged lives. This commitment led him to design and patent the SHUFFLER®.
