Our story began with Lee Trainor’s innovative idea, inspired by his personal experience with spinal stenosis and lower-limb weakness. From this, he designed and patented the SHUFFLER®, a portable seated exercise device created to support movement, confidence and everyday activity.

His vision was rooted in the belief that everyone should have access to exercise, regardless of age, ability or financial situation.

At Trainor Jim, we are passionate about breaking down barriers to exercise and promoting overall wellbeing. Our commitment to this mission led us to create affordable, portable exercise equipment like the patented SHUFFLER®.

We are dedicated to helping individuals of all backgrounds embrace the benefits of physical activity, and we are proud to collaborate with experts in the field, including Surrey University and the Royal College of Art.

As a participant in the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, our long-term ambition is to make accessible exercise equipment available to more people across the UK, including those who may benefit from simple movement support in everyday settings.

Our values

Designed around people, not barriers.

At Trainor Jim, we believe movement should feel accessible, practical and empowering. Our values guide how we design, test and develop products that support real people in everyday settings.

1

Inclusivity & Accessibility

No one left behind.

+

The SHUFFLER® has been designed for users of all abilities, including older adults, disabled individuals and wheelchair users.

We believe accessibility is a right, not an afterthought. Helpful products should not feel complicated, costly or intimidating.

Our mission is to make mobility and movement easier, more empowering and more accessible for all. Exercise should be for everyone.

2

Clinical Effectiveness

Grounded in insight, tested in real-world settings.

+

We are working towards evidence of effectiveness and wellbeing benefits through trials, evaluation and community use.

Our approach is grounded in clinical insight, with a focus on outcomes that matter to people, practitioners and organisations.

We aim to align with NHS priorities and support measurable impact in real-world settings.

3

Simple, Robust, Quality

Safe. Tested. Uncompromising.

+

Engineered for everyday use, the SHUFFLER® uses robust materials, has no sharp edges and is designed to be durable, easy to clean and built to last.

Its manual, non-electrical design keeps it simple, reliable and environmentally mindful.

We aim to give back more than we take, supporting health and movement while considering our footprint and encouraging sustainable solutions in healthcare, community and everyday living.

Please note: The SHUFFLER® is classified as exercise equipment and is not a medical device.
