Gentle seated movement for periods of reduced mobility

The SHUFFLER® was designed to encourage regular lower-limb movement from a seated position, helping people build simple movement into their day without needing large equipment or complicated setup.

It can be used at home, at bedside, in community settings, in workplaces or as part of wider wellbeing and activity programmes.

Barriers it can support

Making movement easier to start

Traditional exercise can feel difficult during periods of reduced mobility, especially where people are worried about pain, stiffness, balance or falling.

The SHUFFLER® offers a low-setup way to encourage seated movement, helping people stay active between appointments, activity sessions or moments of direct support.

The SHUFFLER® is exercise equipment designed to encourage gentle seated movement. It is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any medical condition.

Evidence in action

Early usability work has explored the SHUFFLER® as a simple seated movement tool. In a small 8-week community programme with Romney Marsh Community Hub, recognised by Sport England and supported by the National Lottery Movement Fund, participants showed improvements in simple movement tests and reported increased confidence when using the SHUFFLER® as part of regular seated exercise.

Results are from a community usability programme and individual experiences may vary.
